I’ve been trying to pay attention to the blossoming of my
crabapple tree this April.
It started like this:

new crabapple buds
Because of some rainy/stormy weather, I wasn’t able to
didn’t want to photograph my tree on a few sequential days.
Then this blew into town one night: Snow!

April 26th storm (not my crabapple tree)
What a difference a day makes!
Now this is my beautiful pink tree.

I’ve always loved my hot pink tree in springtime!

Very retro fabric!
This weekend was quite productive. I re-drafted an A-line skirt pattern I created late last summer. That pattern was way too big, so I needed to take new measurements and draft a new one altogether.
Although I made a muslin skirt in order to adjust measurements, I didn’t want to make my first skirt out of expensive fabric. Voila! 1970ish vintage linen fabric from my stash ( probably taken from my mom’s stash originally). A skirt for free!
The skirt fits me perfectly, unlike the clothes I’ve made in the past from commercial pattern. As an added bonus, it goes nicely with my watermelon colored Dansko sandals. Woo hoo!
The next project on my list is to make my own pattern for a shirt to go with it. You know … If You Give a Mouse a Cookie …

Some like it hot!
Besides baking, there is very little I enjoy cooking in the kitchen … except pizza and bread! This is “Tony’s Famous Cholula Spicy Chicken Pizza”, and it came from this book .

60 Different Pizza Recipes
It had a robust tomato pizza sauce topped with Cholula soaked, shredded chicken, mozzarella, jalapenos and garlic. The recipe also called for chorizo, and onion which I chose to leave out.
The boys in my house liked this, but requested that I turn up the heat even more by adding more jalapenos next time. I on the other hand, thought it had good flavor, but was much too hot!, hot!, hot!, for my liking.
Remember that if you just want to browse a recipe book and don’t necessarily want to invest the money to buy it, see if your local library carries it.
This usually works for me, but some lame-o neatly cut out a page containing the “New York Style Pizza Sauce”, leaving that section of recipes useless.
Hope you’re enjoying your stolen page. Tsk… Tsk!

Easter Meal
Great food, great people, great day!
Okay, our family really knows how to put on a celebration. The spread of food was enormous and thanks goes out to my cousin Roxy and her husband for hosting today’s festivities. There was such a delicious variety of foods to choose from including my personal favorite … Mexican food!
The children received a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny (who was such a sport), went on an Easter egg hunt, rode miniature ponies, jumped on the trampoline and got to ride in a go-cart. It was like a day at the fun park!

My Little Cousin's Easter Find
The adults got to crack two hollowed out eggs filled with confetti, over people’s heads for good luck.
Several people cracked their eggs on my head, so I guess that it means that I’ll have a year filled with extra good luck. I sure hope so!

I'm going to get tons of good luck!
