Spring Break?

Spring Break ?
Yep … you guessed it. Our state has a way of letting you know that mother nature is the boss in these parts. As the day progresses, it gets warmer and warmer.
Tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 50’s.
Go figure!

Our flower bed
Yup! Spring is here … well, almost.

Early bloomers
On our walk this morning we saw evidence of little sparks of spring. I was completely captivated as I boldly marched up to some stranger’s front porch in order to snap this photo.

March blooms
Sweet, sweet, flowers stretching to the sun.

New flowers
Hope you have a sunshiny Saturday.

" Little houses on the hillside, little houses made of ticky-tacky ..."
Back in February when we took a ride in the mountains, I saw this interesting little house. It’s clearly visible from the main road through town (although tucked back a ways), but somehow I’ve missed its existence at least a hundred times or more. The self-expression is obvious and seems to fit perfectly with the eclectic vibe of this little mountain town. I’m reminded of a tree house that doesn’t care that it’s not at all camouflaged in its surroundings. Long live individuality!
Now I bet my kids won’t think that a non-blue colored house is so bad after all.

Protective Mama
Several days ago … before our 3 day snow storm, we went for a walk in the country. This is one of my favorite places to visit in February because the cows are calving at this time, and I love calves! This is a true sign of the upcoming spring. We had to walk between many sets of mamas and their newborn calves (not such a great idea), to continue logging in the mileage. This cow made it clear that we were to stay away from her cute little baby, who was no more than a day old.
Only baby cows can get me to walk on a cow paddy riddled trail (see “things I’m not so fond of ” in the “About” section). I wish I could give a baby cow a nice big hug … but that isn’t about to happen anytime soon. Did you not notice that mama?

Soon- to- be Mama

Winter Bridge
It’s hard to get up early on a Saturday morning and know you should be exercising, while all you’re thinking about is brewing a pot of aromatic coffee and baking some cranberry scones to go along with it.
I never regret going on a walk, once I’m actually doing it. Today was so peaceful and white. We only saw two other people, which made it seem that we were all alone in this beauty.
Now I’m back home and need to face some chores, bookkeeping, and other yucky business (insurance claim dispute), and then … I’ll get to make the cranberry scones I’ve been dreaming about since Christmas.
Peace
