Grandkids' gift to my mom
Hope all you moms out there had an incredible Mother’s Day!
I was so thrilled when my all my kids gave me a gift certificate for a Swedish massage at a local spa. What a marvelous idea. Ooooh! I can feel my tension melting away just thinking about it!
I also received a new pizza stone and peel. Hooray! As previously blogged about, I completely cracked destroyed my old baking stone, leaving it virtually useless. My bread just hasn’t been as good since.
Now I can use my new stone for the artisan breads I’ve been baking lately, and for all the new kinds of pizzas I’ve been dreamin’ about.
Thank you all for such a great Mother’s Day. I certainly felt the love.
I love you all so incredibly much!
I’m so glad you’re mine. I’m the luckiest Mom in the world!

Well the time has come for me to hang up the curriculum, standards, teaching books, children’s books, whiteboards, and magnetic letters.
Last night was the formal district dinner for teachers and other staff, given in honor of our career accomplishments.

lots of polk-a-dots
I was so fortunate to be supported by my parents and sister at this formal event, since standing before a massive crowd while your life’s biography is being read, is quite unnerving. One of my school colleagues was also in attendance, so she helped make the evening fun.
Each employee was presented with a “golden apple” and engraved plaque to commemorate our dedication to education and children. Even more importantly, I also got a lifelong pass to all athletic and other school events in my district. Go team!

I know it’s just a mere token of all my dedication, time, and devotion to children and my teaching career, but this apple means so much to me. It’s a reminder that if you work hard and follow your dreams, they indeed will come true.
How thankful I am that I’ve been able to help and encourage children every single day of my career, the last 22 years. I will miss them dearly. Now I’m off to explore the world of creativity, and tranquility.
My dreams may be changing, but my goals still remain the same. Wish me luck on this upcoming new chapter of my life.

I’ve been trying to pay attention to the blossoming of my
crabapple tree this April.
It started like this:

new crabapple buds
Because of some rainy/stormy weather, I wasn’t able to
didn’t want to photograph my tree on a few sequential days.
Then this blew into town one night: Snow!

April 26th storm (not my crabapple tree)
What a difference a day makes!
Now this is my beautiful pink tree.

a few new blossoms
I’ve always loved my hot pink tree in springtime!

Very retro fabric!
This weekend was quite productive. I re-drafted an A-line skirt pattern I created late last summer. That pattern was way too big, so I needed to take new measurements and draft a new one altogether.
Although I made a muslin skirt in order to adjust measurements, I didn’t want to make my first skirt out of expensive fabric. Voila! 1970ish vintage linen fabric from my stash ( probably taken from my mom’s stash originally). A skirt for free!
The skirt fits me perfectly, unlike the clothes I’ve made in the past from commercial pattern. As an added bonus, it goes nicely with my watermelon colored Dansko sandals. Woo hoo!
The next project on my list is to make my own pattern for a shirt to go with it. You know … If You Give a Mouse a Cookie …
